Re:Charge R&R – Supporting Families in Maidenhead
Re:Charge R&R provides long term, compassionate, non-judgmental support to families in need in Maidenhead. They do this by providing and staffing a variety of drop-in centres that families can attend, with their children, and where they feel safe, supported, valued and accepted.
Quite often, these families are dealing with a wide range of issues such as loneliness and isolation and need help with dealing with stress and difficulties with home life.
In building relationships with people experiencing emotional difficulties or financial poverty, the Re:Charge R&R staff and volunteers provide a listening ear and a safe space to open up without fear or distrust, and sign post families to other services in the Borough, when necessary.
Re:Charge R&R’s aim is to approach any delicate situations with their service users and look at solutions to bring positive outcomes to, ultimately, enable them to reach their best potential.
One service user said “”The support I get from the staff at the session is fantastic. I know that if I have a problem I can go and talk to any of them to get help and advice, and I know that none of them will judge me. They put me at ease and help me through my tough times whether it is a personal problem or some advice on how best to support my children. They are always there for all the families they work with and, for this, I will be forever grateful to them all!”
Between 2013 and 2018 Re:Charge R&R has benefited from a number of grants totaling £12,000 from The Prince Philip Trust Fund for a variety of projects and initiatives that help them support local families who are struggling. One grant for £3,000 in 2018 went towards the costs of setting up a specific weekly drop-in session to support recovering addicts at the “Freedom Cafe” in Maidenhead.
Hannah Lucas, General Manager of Re:Charge R&R said: “Sadly, we see more and more people in our community struggling and in need of support. Building relationships and providing a little practical help to our service users can often be a lifeline for families in crisis. Grant funding from The Prince Philip Trust Fund has helped us reach out to even more people in need in our community and support them through tough times.”
