Mayor to support The Prince Philip Trust Fund during year of office

10 June 2021: The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead has announced he will be supporting The Prince Philip Trust Fund during his term of office.

Councillor John Story made the announcement today (Wednesday 10 June) on what would have been the 100th birthday of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. He will raise awareness of the charity’s work, as well as funds to help it continue its projects.

Councillor Story said: “I am delighted to be supporting The Prince Philip Trust Fund. The fund has helped many people and projects across the borough. Since being established as a grant-giving trust in 1977 it has supported over 1,600 causes and distributed over £2 million in grants.”

Chris Aitken, Secretary and Trustee for The Prince Philip Trust Fund, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the mayor’s charity of the year.”

“It is a great mark of respect for our late founder, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, and what he has done for the communities of Windsor and Maidenhead over the 44 years of the Prince Philip Trust Fund.”

“Given that today marks what would have been the Duke of Edinburgh’s centenary, what a wonderful tribute to his legacy that, together, we can continue to support the wide breadth of charities across the borough with grant funds, to the benefit of the residents and the community in which he lived and worked.”

The Mayor will be hosting a special event in Windsor Guildhall in the Spring of 2022 to raise awareness of the trust, as well as raise funds for the charity.
