The Tall Ships Youth Trust

The Tall Ships Youth Trust’s mission is to enable young people aged 12-25 years to fulfil their life potential through experiences at sea and by breaking down the barriers they face. 

Participants come from a range of backgrounds – from young carers to those with learning difficulties or physical disabilities, and are brought together to live and work in a unique ocean-going sail-training environment.  Over 1,400 young people sailed with the charity last year, 77% of whom had a disability or came from a disadvantaged background. The Tall Ships Youth Trust experience is literally life-changing.  The young people involved learn about teamwork, leadership, seamanship and navigation as well as developing many life skills – their confidence and self-esteem also grow as the charity helps them to ‘sail beyond expectations!’ This exemplifies what The Prince Philip Trust Fund aims to achieve by supporting the development of children and young people through our funding grants
