HRH Prince Philip’s legacy continues in support for the Royal Borough


Over £34,000 in funds given out to 18 different local charities by The Prince Philip Trust Fund 

In its first meeting since the sad death of its Patron HRH Prince Philip on 9 April, the Board of Trustees of the Prince Philip Trust Fund, chaired by HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, allocated over £34,000 in grant funds charities and projects that will serve the residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

In its first round of grant funding held this year, 18 charities, projects and good causes qualified for funding to support a wide range of activities and projects including those that are supporting young people, those with disabilities, vulnerable families and helping to ensure a broader access to sports and the arts.

Capital projects being supported by the Trust include clubhouse refurbishments for both Clewer Scouts and Guides and Home Park Lawn Tennis, and IT upgrade for the charity Camp Mohawk – a specially equipped, accessible multi-activity day centre in Berkshire, that supports over 1,000 children and young people affected by special needs and their families.   In addition, two churches in the Royal Borough – St Mary’s Church, White Waltham and the Methodist Church in Maidenhead – are also receiving financial support for their fundraising they are doing for a renovation project and broadcasting equipment respectively.

Projects that are strengthening local families and supporting carers will be receiving grants in this funding round also, with cheques currently on their way to  Life Education Wessex, ReCharge R&R, Family Friends and Family Action for a range of outreach activities.

Additionally, Windsor Fringe and Windsor Festival for 2021 have both received funding for their annual arts projects, as did The Kevin Cruise Foundation which is helping sick children and disadvantaged families to be able to see local theatrical productions.

“It was always one of Prince Philip’s fondest wishes that The Prince Philip Trust of which he was Founder, Chairman and in later years Patron, that the charity would grow and continue to reach out and help those in need in our local community.  And whilst we mourn his passing and miss his leadership and good humour, the Trustees and I are so pleased that we can continue his work for the benefit of others in the Royal Borough – a great legacy indeed.”
